The 2025 CrossFit Open: A WildFire Recap

The 2025 CrossFit Open is officially over—and what a ride it was!

Each week brought its own special magic. We talk about the magic of the Open a lot because there’s no better way to describe it. There’s something powerful about tackling these workouts together, feeling the energy of our community, and pushing to new levels of effort. The emotions run high, the excitement is contagious, and the support is unmatched. This is what makes the Open great.

"The Open isn’t just a competition; it’s a celebration of progress, perseverance, and community."

A Huge Thank You

Making the Open happen takes a ton of behind-the-scenes work. First and foremost, we want to give a massive shout-out to the WildFire Coaching Team. You put in extra hours, extra energy, and extra support to make these three weeks unforgettable. Whether our members participated in the Open or not, you show up every day to help them become the best version of themselves—inside and outside the gym. Thank you for everything you do!

To our incredible judges and volunteers—you are the backbone of the Open. The Open is special because every athlete has a judge, someone holding them to a higher standard, giving direct feedback, and coaching them through the challenge. This takes dedication, and we appreciate every single one of you who stepped up on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Thank you for making this event what it is!

Week 1: Grit & Grind

The Open kicked off with a challenge of pure grit. Increasing reps of burpees and dumbbell hang clean & jerks, with lunges thrown in for a quick “break.” This workout tested our ability to dig deep and keep moving. We saw every athlete rise to the occasion, pushing through the burn and setting the tone for the rest of the Open.

Week 2: Skills & Strength

Gymnastics, jump rope, and weightlifting—Week 2 had it all. Pull-ups, chest-to-bar, bar muscle-ups, and heavy thrusters made an appearance. And WildFire showed up in a big way!

So. Many. Firsts.

First pull-ups. First chest-to-bar pull-ups. First bar muscle-ups. Athletes stepping up to the challenge of double-unders, even when it slowed them down. Some even surprised themselves by crushing the heavier weights on thrusters.

This week also brought the classic “If only I had…” moments—the drive to improve, the fire to do better next time. And that’s part of the Open magic too. It highlights areas to work on and sets the stage for goals in the coming year.

Week 3: The Final Showdown

The last workout gave us everything—gymnastics, weightlifting, and a little rowing for good measure. Wall walks, deadlifts, cleans, and snatches created a challenge within a challenge.

We saw athletes conquer fears, going upside down for the first time and hitting their first (or 20th!) wall walk. We watched people dig deep to get through those heavy barbell reps. The energy was electric, and the support from the community was next level.

Why Do We Do the Open?

Every year, the Open presents a new challenge to athletes all over the world. We train all year, working on our weaknesses, refining our skills, and showing up for ourselves and each other. Then, when February and March roll around, we rally together to face the challenge as a united community.

The Open isn’t just about leaderboard rankings or scores—it’s about stepping up, pushing past limits, and raising the bar for ourselves and those around us. It’s about celebrating progress, whether that means hitting a new PR, achieving a first skill, or simply showing up and giving it your all.

So take a moment to celebrate your wins. Your biggest one? Signing up and stepping up to the challenge. We are so proud of every single one of you!

What’s Next?

Now, it’s time to set your sights on the future. What do you want to accomplish in the next year? A new skill? More strength? More endurance? Meet with a coach, set a goal, and let’s make it happen.

For those who registered through CrossFit HQ, you’ll receive a Level and the opportunity to compete in the Community Cup in June. Your Level will determine your workouts, and you’ll get to compare yourself to others in the same category. More details will be coming soon, so stay tuned!

WildFire, you crushed it. Congratulations on an incredible 2025 Open! Let’s keep that fire burning and set our sights on the next challenge—together!
