  • How do I schedule my first class?

While you are always welcome to fill out the form on the home page which will take you to a page to schedule your first class you can also just come on in! We have an open schedule which means that you are welcome to come to any of our CrossFit Classes anytime.

  • What should I bring & wear for my first class?

Wear whatever you would typically wear to the gym. A t-shirt or tank top, a pair of gym shorts or sweatpants, & comfortable tennis/running shoes are all that are required. You may want to bring a water bottle although you can always get one here and refill it for free and some people bring a hand or sports towel as well.

  • Is there a place for kids?

We do have an area for kids of all ages to be while the parents are in class. Understand that it is NOT daycare. It is a gated area where parents can still keep an eye on them while they are working out and make sure they are okay. There are toys, coloring books, and plenty of places to sit. We just ask that before you make sure your kids clean up after themselves before they leave.

  • What does it mean to “Scale” a workout?

One of the best things about CrossFit is that the workouts are infinitely scalable to your level of fitness. Each of our workouts are programmed with an Rx, or prescribed, amount set for the weight, reps, sets, and even the exercise itself. Based on the fitness level of the athlete doing the workout we can change elements (referred to as scaling) as necessary to ensure safety and efficiency of the movements. By scaling the weight (up or down) the number of reps, the sets, or even the exercise itself to make sure that you still get a great workout while we reduce the risk of injury.

  • Is there a specific class or program for beginners to CrossFit?

We do not have a class specifically for beginners. In each of our classes we have all levels of athletes from just starting a fitness program for the first time to elite athletes who are taking their fitness to the next level. All of our CrossFit Classes are led by one of our expert coaches who will explain the warm up, go through proper form and technique of any skills and strength work, and will give a detailed explanation of the workout. Aside from the fact that our coaches are outstanding at making sure you are doing the exercises safely and efficiently, we want you to be in a class where you will learn from other experienced athletes. Not just a class full of beginners. It works very well and makes it a lot more fun from the beginning.

  • How often should I come to class?

At WildFire CrossFit you are welcome to come as often as you would like and we are open 7 days a week. I suggest that you come in as often as possible ESPECIALLY in the beginning. There is no right answer for this and whether you come in 5-6 days a week or 3-4, we recommend that you treat it like any important appointment because this is your time to take a break from work, family, and stress and work on you!

As you get into it, we do recommend that you listen to your body and take rest days and do active recovery (running, swimming, mobility, & stretching) to ensure that you are not overtraining. You are always welcome to talk to a coach if you need help figuring out how to fit it into a busy schedule.

  • Will I get injured if I do CrossFit & what if I have a pre-existing injury?

Beyond the Whiteboard is our system for tracking your scores on your workouts. One of the foundational principles of CrossFit is that it is measureable. That means that over time you are able to see a difference. We record everything from the strength work we do to the scores you get on the workout. This program is FREE to all members and you can record your scores online or using the FREE app for your IPhone or Android. In addition to simply recording your scores, this system allows for quick recall of information so you can see what you did last time you did the workout or exercise. It will help you gauge your progress over time and set goals for the future. You can even create your own workouts, evaluate your strengths and weaknesses, and choose from workouts the system will provide for areas you need to work on.

  • Should I eat before a workout?

You NEED to eat before your workouts. The food you put into your body is the fuel that will give you energy to perform. If you work out early in the morning this can be challenging, however, it is VERY important to make sure you have the fuel you need to sustain you through the workout.

  • What should I eat before I workout?

This is very individualized.  Factors to consider are your current diet, what time of day are you working out and how do you feel during the workout.  A general rule of thumb would be to eat a meal that consists of protein, carbs and fat an hour before.  Some people may want to have a snack of carbohydrates 30 minutes before like a piece of fruit.  A lot of this is going to be personal preference and how your digestion system is working.  The best way to achieve optimal fueling for your health and performance is to meet with a coach.  Your coach will be able to give you a personalized recommendation.

  • Do you talk about and help athletes with their nutrition?

Absolutely. Nutrition is a huge part of what we do. Every month or so we offer a Fuel Your Fire Nutrition seminar that will take you through the ins and out of eating healthy and the proper nutrition for your performance in the gym. In addition, twice a year we do a nutrition challenge that will keep you on track and really help to hold you accountable to proper eating habits. During the challenge we have a lot of ongoing information and events and we do testing on both body composition and physical fitness areas over time.

  • What should I do if I can’t make it into WildFire?

Whether you are busy at work, with the family, going out of town, or you just can’t make it in as often as you would like, consistency is the key to any fitness program. The beauty of CrossFit is that it can be done anywhere with little or no equipment. We have No Equipment Necessary and Some Equipment Necessary sheets available in the gym for you to take. The No Equipment Necessary workouts can be done from anywhere in the world. The Some Equipment Necessary is designed to be done with the equipment they might have in a hotel fitness center. Our coaches are always happy to program something for you that will help you stay on track with your goals.

  • What happens to my membership if I go on vacation?

At WildFire CrossFit we want you to use your membership to it’s full advantage. If you are going out of town for a week or more for work or pleasure, we are a happy to put your membership on hold so that you don’t lose anything. Just talk to a coach and let them know the dates you are gone and they can set it up.

  • Will I be sore?

Yes. As the saying goes: “No Pain, No Gain”. At WildFire CrossFit our goal is to challenge you and push you. It is NOT to crush you. We WANT you to be able to walk the next day. As you work out and build strength, your muscle has to break down in order to rebuild and get stronger. While it is never like during your first two weeks, even a year into it you will be sore IN A GOOD WAY. There are many different things we can do to help you alleviate some of the soreness through proper nutrition and mobility & stretching so be sure to talk to a coach with any questions.

  • How do I Learn Everything?

As you get started at WildFire CrossFit, it can be a little overwhelming. When it comes to the technique and form of the exercises, this will always be an ongoing process. Learning the names of the exercises, the lingo of Crossfit, and the schemes of the workouts is not going to happen overnight. That’s why we have coaches who are there to take you through every step of class AND answer any questions you may have. Over time it will all come together and you will understand how to perform the workout just by looking at what is written on the board.

  • What is Beyond the Whiteboard?

Beyond the Whiteboard is our system for tracking your scores on your workouts. One of the foundational principles of CrossFit is that it is measureable. That means that over time you are able to see a difference. We record everything from the strength work we do to the scores you get on the workout.
